Light guide

Stand at your window and note where the sun is at noon

Light is the only thing that decides whether a plant lives in your flat. Watering is a habit you can fix; a north-facing room is not. Find your window below.

North facing

No direct sun at any point in the day. Bright enough for anything that stores water in its leaves or stems.

East or west

A few hours of soft, angled sun. The widest choice in the range, and the easiest light to guess right.

South facing

Direct sun for most of the day. Succulents want it; everything else wants to sit a metre back from the glass.
